Accessibility
Schloss Gottorf is a building complex that has grown historically over the centuries. Therefore, some rooms are unfortunately not accessible for people with disabilities.
If you have any detailed questions about possible barriers in advance of your visit, please feel free to call our service staff or send us an e-mail. If you are on the Museum Island and need assistance, you can contact our staff at any time.
At the moment, we are working on renovating, extending and modernising the castle building. You can find more information about this at www.masterplan-gottorf.de. Once these extensive plans have been implemented, it will also be possible for people with disabilities to visit all our exhibitions without any problems. In addition to several lifts, there will be a modern wayfinding system and an exhibition design adapted to the guidelines for accessibility in museums.
